Aware Presence Simply Is
The fundamental ground of all existence does not strive, seek, or manipulate. Aware presence is the “I am” that precedes all thoughts, feelings, and sensations. It is the silent witness that observes the flow of experience without judgment or engagement.
Prayer, meditation, self-inquiry and various other spiritual practices, while potentially valuable tools for quieting the mind and shifting perspective, are activities of the mind—the very instrument that obscures the recognition of this effortless being.
When we rest in simply being, we align ourselves with the fundamental nature of reality. We watch with degrees of benevolent indifference the mind's extra activity. We settle into conscious awareness.
In religious language, this deep sense of being is often described as oneness with the Father, or oneness with God; not God as a separate, transcendent entity far away, but as the ground of our very being, the source of all existence—the all-encompassing, ever-present presence we call awareness.
